Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount by giving the disciples, the crowd, and the religious leaders four basic choices and warnings: they MUST choose between two gates and roads (vv. 13–14), two kinds of teachers (vv. 15–20), two kinds of disciples (vv. 21–23), and two foundations (vv. 24–27).
These choices and warnings emphasize the same message: CHOOSE!

20“But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!
Jesus challenged his audience to make a choice, realizing His listener’s choices would have eternal consequences. They are either WITH Jesus or AGAINST Him. There is no middle ground…

A parable brings the Sermon on the Mount to a close as Jesus calls for his audience to CHOOSE between Himself and the religious establishment, drawing a dividing line between Himself and any other foundation for life.
The evidence of whether one is truly a believer is in whether one DOES the words of Jesus.
Disciples who build their lives on Jesus and His message of making disciples are truly wise, regardless of the shifting cultural trends or popular religious fashions.
Have you heard and are you doing Jesus’ words? Have you chosen to enter into a personal relationship with Him and CLIMB as His disciple?
Knowing Jesus—not just knowing about him and speaking His language—is the key to living the abundant life and entering the Kingdom of Heaven.
